Good morning, James...

One of those *VITAL* thingees broke during the most-recent round of
fiddling with apt-get and aptitude.

Although Pysol was updated, for some unexplained reason,
pysol-sound-server and pysol-sounds did not. It absolutely broke my heart,
I tell ya. However, since Suzie's workstation is still on sarge-stable,
she has lots of noise when she's trying to beat the odds. However, none of
the mission-critical things on this workstation were mutilated by the
manual update.

Here's the outcome at the end of this process is that x-window-system-core
cannot be updated. However, I was able to reboot and XWindows seems to be
stable, so what the heck. I'll re-try apt-get update/upgrade tomorrow. 8-)

Uh-oh.. don't mix apt-get and aptitude. And I lean towards not using
aptitude at all, after several hard knocks with it. Used to think it
was right-on, but have since learned differently.

Wajig has a command called "purge-depend" that replaces the only thing
worthwhile about aptitude. It also has "unofficial" that can be used to
find software outside of the Debian archives, which can be good or bad,
depending... ;-)
