Good afternoon, everyone...

James, you out there? Tell me what you know about Xandros, and how does it
pertain to Debian? Somebody started blowing in my ear yesterday about their
kick-ass Debian box that's been up for over two months running Samba, KDE
and something called Xandros. Whazzat?

Thanks! I also read the blurbs on their website at http://www.xandros.com
which really talks up their Windows cross-compatibility. Given the results
of the last year with regard to Microsoft, this looks like it *could* be a
Windows killer in the corporate/office environment, if it lives up to
everything it promises. <sigh>

If they don't end up being bought out by Microsoft, that is. 8-)

Their pricing scheme is interesting, they charge the same whether you buy
the package from them or download an iso, with no free downloads.

I noticed that. I also noticed that you can buy their CD's at a slight
discount from Walnut Creek CD's and a number of other CD purveyors. Harmph.
Still, it is an interesting distro, though. For the $29 fee it might be
interesting enough to pique my curiosity, ahem, once I master building an
OpenBSD box, though. 8-)
